Pre-loved Clothes Swap reminder
As part of our drive to become more ECO friendly, and whilst fully understanding the rise in the cost of living, we wanted to remind you that we are holding a pre-loved children's clothes swap here at school.
Families can bring any of the items listed below into school so that they are ready for the swap.
On Friday 3rd February from 2pm, families will be able to access the school hall and rummage through the donated items, taking anything suitable.
Please ensure that the pre-loved clothes donated are in a clean condition and in a suitable bag.
We believe that the following items would be well received:
- Pyjamas
- Tops
- Trousers
- Shirts/Dresses
- Coats
- School uniform
- Shoes
Any items of clothing left behind at the end of the swap will be recycled.
As part of our commitment to make maths exciting and high profile in our school, we've decided to take part in a friendly competition involving schools in the United Kingdom. It's a 1-day competition which starts on Friday 3rd February 2023 at 07:30 GMT and ends at 19:30 GMT. It's all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.
Children can play in any gamemode with every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, earning themselves, their class and the school a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a 60-minute limit (see below). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average. If your child does not know their TTRS login, please request it from their teacher.

Our Year 6 children took part in Bikeability this week, the 'cycling proficiency' test for the 21st century, designed to give the children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads.
Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Pupils not only learn to cycle, they gain independence, social skills and a sense of well-being.
After Bikeability, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school which in turn improves mental health and welling. This allows children to get more out of the classroom, improving their attention span and engagement. Healthier habits lead to increased attendance and improved academic results.
Bikeability goes beyond a training course; it impacts children’s lives.
We are delighted to announce that Mrs Stephens (Year 1 mum) has joined our fabulous OPAL team.
The children are already benefitting from her caring and enthusiastic approach to our OPAL play initiative.
Please do not allow your children to play in the adventure playground at after school pick up as it is unsupervised.
We are continuing to grow the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) experience for our children.
Over the last two weeks we have introduced new activities for the children to play with. One of the popular introductions has been the potion station. Mrs Samways has created a fun area for the children to make potions using water and food colouring, they are really enjoying it.
We have more trikes available too.
Skipping has been a big hit with all of the children, regardless of age.
Den building has been exceptional over the last couple of weeks, the children are learning valuable skills whilst creating their dens around the school site.
Class OPAL BINGO Game
The idea is that each class aims to complete as much of the card as possible by the Easter holidays, the class with the most items will win the Golden Welly Trophy to display in their classroom.
The items do not need to be new, we hope that families will have some of the items which are no longer of any use at home that can be donated to school.
