Celebrating our exceptional learners
In assembly this morning we celebrated our fabulous learners and their achievements. We continue to enjoy success in all areas of school life thanks to your help and support and the commitment and care of our fabulous Dunalley staff. As well as hearing about our school sporting success, we enjoyed finding out about the success that some of our children have enjoyed with their out of school sports clubs.
The following children also received a special mention and thanks for their impeccable manners and thoughtfulness.
Thank you to the team from St Paul's church who taught us about why Christian's celebrate Easter in assembly this morning. We hope that everyone enjoys the holiday and traditions.
OPAL Bingo Winners - Year 4P!
Followed very closely by Y1U.
Well done to all classes for taking part, the competition was a huge success and the children are now enjoying playing with all of the dontated items.
Our OPAL team have worked tirelessly to create a fabulous environment for the children to explore at lunch times, with an array of wonderful activities and opportunities for creative play.
We are always after donations for OPAL so if you decide to have a spring clean over the Easter break please keep us in mind for:
- Bed Sheets
- Plastic colanders, jugs and funnels
- Old musical items
- Buckets
- Picnic Blankets
We love to showcase our OPAL initiative and often have visitors in school to see how well our lunch times work.
Take a look at this week's OPAL...
On Friday the 5th of May we will celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III
We are really excited that that we can celebrate this momentous occasion together at Dunalley.
From the end of the school day (at 3.15pm) we will open our grounds for a family picnic.
There will be two competitions: a 'Cake fit for a King' and a 'Crown fit for a King'
Homemade cakes and crowns can be bought into school on the morning of Friday 5th ready to be judged during our school assembly.
Children are invited to come to school wearing red, white and blue.
At hometime, children must be collected as usual as children staying for the event must be supervised by parents and carers. We will do our best to make sure that children who are booked into Lates are able to enjoy the event under the supervision our usual staff.
More information will be provided over the next few weeks.
AiP will be doing a specia lunch menu please see the leaflet for details.
During the holidays, please make sure that everything your child brings to school is labelled.
We find that we quickly accumulate a wide range of unnamed, high-quality items (water bottles, coats, snack boxes, jumpers etc.). Labelling belongings will help us to reunite them with their owners and avoids unnecessary waste and expenditure.
Music Lessons - Summer 2023 Bursary Grant
If you’re finding it hard to afford the costs of music tuition for your child, you may be eligible for a bursary fund.
The bursary will cover any individual or small group music tuition for the Summer term, together with the loan of an instrument if required and financial help towards music examination fees if relevant.
Further information can be found on the following links, including a bursary application form.
The bursary will only be paid for tuition for the period up to the end of the Summer 2023 school term (but will be reopened at a later date for applications for the next academic year).
Today, we have been raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK. The children have come to school in their sports kit and have attempted to run a marathon collectively as a class. It has been wonderful to see so many children running around the track! I am running my first marathon in London on the 23rd April for MDUK.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 111,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. Raising this money will make a huge difference to those who need it most under the support from MDUK. MDUK are providing assistance today, but they are also making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments. Running on behalf of MDUK is special and the training has been tough but the goal is extremely worthwhile. I am raising money alongside my brother who is also running the marathon. This will give me an extra motivation on the day to make it to the finish line first!
Thank you for your donations so far! Here is my JustGiving link if you would like to make a further donation.

From the PTFA's:
A reminder that this coming Saturday, we have the first collaborative Summer Festival (11am-3pm) between Pittville School, Dunalley, Holy Trinity & St Johns.
There has been a lot of hard work and organisation by the 4 schools, with representatives from either the PTA's, the staff or both, along with representatives from the Fairview Community Association and we are all very much looking forward to this Saturday! Our aim is to put on a fantastic community event whilst hopefully raising some money for the respective schools!
We are so lucky to be able to use the school field for this event and we have LOTS going on for all ages and we do hope that lots of our students and families will come along and support.
We have a climbing wall, archery, graffiti artist, Prestbury Phantoms (beat the Goalie), Cheltenham Town Wheelers (CTW) (bring your bike and have a go on the skills area!), skittle as well as food vans, tuck shop and the usual summer fayre type stalls for young and old!
We have dance groups coming to entertain as well as a choir and our very own DJ Sparky will be supporting us with some tunes!
A bar for over 18's as well as a dry bar for those that are not!
We look forward to seeing many of you there, entry is on foot, via the main school gate.
