Before the end of term your children will spend some time with their new teachers. We are also working behind the scenes to make the transitions as smooth as possible.
As we head towards the end of a successful school year, we have started working to ensure we are supporting the children in their transition to Year 1.
As part of that process, as explained in a previous school newsletter, the children will be mixed in to new classes to support their learning. They will have opportunities over the coming weeks to spend time with their new Year 1 teachers and settle ahead of September.
Reception families are invited to pop in at 3pm on Monday 3rd July to be treated to a song and a smile! This will also allow you to know which of the Reception classrooms you will need to collect your child from for the final 3 weeks of term.
If your child is with Mr Price for the last weeks of term they will be joining Mrs Fisher in Year 1 and those with Mrs Flood / Hadad will be in Miss Underwood's class.
Please don't worry if you can't join us on Monday, we will message all families with the Year 1 information.
Potential Teacher Industrial Action
Potential Teacher Industrial Action
You may be aware that the National Education Union (NEU) has announced that there will be further industrial action this term. Members of the NEU are therefore likely to strike on the following days next week:
- Wednesday July 5
- Friday July 7
In response to this, schools across the country are making contingency plans in line with guidance from the Department of Education. Please be aware that each school will be impacted differently by the strike action given the differing number of teachers belonging the NEU in each setting, and the individual choices members make. These variables will determine whether schools will be able to operate normally on strike days or be forced to close or partially close to children.
In line with government guidance, we will do everything possible to minimise disruption in the coming weeks and take all reasonable steps to keep our school open for as many children as possible.
Please be assured that we will let you know about any changes to the usual functioning of the school at the earliest opportunity and update you in the coming days regarding the industrial action that is scheduled for next week.
If your child(ren) will be leaving us before the 5th September please email [email protected] with details. Please include your child's name and the school they are moving to.
This does NOT apply to Year 6 - we already know where they are all heading to.
Well done to everyone who took part In the Move More 'FEET FIRST DANCE FESTIVAL 2023' performance at the Town Hall on Wednesday.
The children performed beautifully and with both confidence and talent.
A huge thank you to Lauren Garraghan our OPAL Play Partner for leading and choreographing the dance and escorting the children to and from The Town Hall.
Nursery & Pre-school have had the joy of observing caterpillars this term. Over the weekend they emerged from their chrysalis as beautiful Monarch butterflies. In our Forest School session on Monday we released them with lots of awe and wonder from the children. Some of the children were very lucky to have some butterflies land on the after that. Amazing! We also spotted some ladybird larvae in the willow and this has inspired our budding David Attenboroughs, to search for as many different minibeasts that they can find.
THANK YOU to families who have donated to our pantry, we, and the families using the facility, are extremely grateful.
Dunalley Pantry has been set up to help families who are struggling with the cost of living crisis - we now have a bank of products that are free to families in need.
Please contact Sam or Phoebe (our family support workers) if you would like to use the pantry - they will be very happy to help. You can catch them at the beginning or end of the school day, call them on 01242 512391 (select option 2), or email [email protected].

From the PTFA's:
A reminder that this coming Saturday, we have the first collaborative Summer Festival (11am-3pm) between Pittville School, Dunalley, Holy Trinity & St Johns.
There has been a lot of hard work and organisation by the 4 schools, with representatives from either the PTA's, the staff or both, along with representatives from the Fairview Community Association and we are all very much looking forward to this Saturday! Our aim is to put on a fantastic community event whilst hopefully raising some money for the respective schools!
We are so lucky to be able to use the school field for this event and we have LOTS going on for all ages and we do hope that lots of our students and families will come along and support.
We have a climbing wall, archery, graffiti artist, Prestbury Phantoms (beat the Goalie), Cheltenham Town Wheelers (CTW) (bring your bike and have a go on the skills area!), skittle as well as food vans, tuck shop and the usual summer fayre type stalls for young and old!
We have dance groups coming to entertain as well as a choir and our very own DJ Sparky will be supporting us with some tunes!
A bar for over 18's as well as a dry bar for those that are not!
We look forward to seeing many of you there, entry is on foot, via the main school gate.
