Year 5 Trip to Ashmolean Museum
On Wednesday, Year 5 travelled to Oxford to the Ashmolean museum as part of their history unit on Ancient Greece.
They took part in several workshops including identifying Greek statues, discussing a model of Athens, played 'artefact bingo' and were even allowed to hold artefacts which we were told were over 2,500 years old! These included ancient Greek coins, pieces of pottery, arrowheads and part of an ancient Greek sofa.
We are delighted to inform you that we have invited “Skippy John” from “Skipping 4 Life” to work with all year groups to teach various skipping skills next week on Wednesday & Thursday.
“Skippy John” (the name Richard Hammond gave him when he appeared on “Total Wipeout”) has over 7 years of experience teaching & demonstrating skipping skills in primary schools across the UK.
Skipping 4 Life’s aim is to encourage children and adults to skip for health, fun and fitness, whilst promoting modern and traditional skipping games, including Individual Skills, Partner Skipping, Double Dutch & Long Rope Team Games.
If children would like to purchase the high quality British made ‘speed ropes’ used, they will be available on the day.
These ropes used by international skipping teams are, strong, light and easy to turn to allow children and adults to progress rapidly.
Welly Walk - 3.15pm Wednesday 19th July
Our fabulous OPAL lunchtimes have meant that having a pair of wellies in school at all times is essential. So that we can clean our well used wellie stores whilst the weather is good, we will be asking all children to take their wellies home next week.
If the wellies no longer fit your child, and you would like to donate them to our welly swap, please do so by placing them in the collection boxes at our main reception and main field gate.
On Wednesday 19th July we will organise a walkway of donated and unclaimed wellies in the playground. Please follow the trail of wellies with your child(ren) at home time and take whatever you need.
All children will need to bring a pair of wellies with them to school in September so that they can be stored in what will be clean storage units located next to their new classrooms.
FREE Gloucestershire Library Summer Challenge
Participants will receive incentives and prizes along the way, with a firm focus on discovering new interests and having fun.
Running from 15 July to 16 September 2023, The Library Challenge aims to encourage children and families to access their local library services and celebrate their own journey.
We hope that you are able to get involved and enjoy this event during the summer holiday.
Thank you to everyone that has logged onto Edulink One, our new communication channel and App.
When you log in you can access your child's attendance record and when applicable, year 2 and 6 key stage test results. To help us save money, these will not be printed this year and will only available on Edulink One.

Earlies & Lates Bookings for September to December 2023
Families have today been informed if their booking requests have been successful.
In order to secure the offer of places, the Autumn Term 2023 Declaration MUST be completed by 12 noon on Friday 14th July.
A link to this has been emailed to families who have been offered spaces today.
The declaration form includes a section on Policies and Procedures which families must agree to before taking up a space. Lates is currently over subscribed and has a waiting list. We must therefore follow all of the policies and procedures set out in the declaration. These expectations include:
- ALL fees being paid in advance
- Children behaving well at ALL times - they must consistently show respect for staff and other children, be polite and courteous and look after equipment at all times.
Please note that late collection (any time after 5.30pm) WILL incur a charge of £30 and that consistent late pick ups will result in the cancellation of any future bookings.
Adhering to the policies and procedures will ensure that children enjoy their time in Earlies and Lates and help us to manage waiting lists.

From the PTFA's:
A reminder that this coming Saturday, we have the first collaborative Summer Festival (11am-3pm) between Pittville School, Dunalley, Holy Trinity & St Johns.
There has been a lot of hard work and organisation by the 4 schools, with representatives from either the PTA's, the staff or both, along with representatives from the Fairview Community Association and we are all very much looking forward to this Saturday! Our aim is to put on a fantastic community event whilst hopefully raising some money for the respective schools!
We are so lucky to be able to use the school field for this event and we have LOTS going on for all ages and we do hope that lots of our students and families will come along and support.
We have a climbing wall, archery, graffiti artist, Prestbury Phantoms (beat the Goalie), Cheltenham Town Wheelers (CTW) (bring your bike and have a go on the skills area!), skittle as well as food vans, tuck shop and the usual summer fayre type stalls for young and old!
We have dance groups coming to entertain as well as a choir and our very own DJ Sparky will be supporting us with some tunes!
A bar for over 18's as well as a dry bar for those that are not!
We look forward to seeing many of you there, entry is on foot, via the main school gate.
