As you know, Dunalley is a listening school and we have an active pupil-led School Council that works together and with staff to enhance our school. Last year, having liaised with their classmates, the group instigated and led some positive initiatives. These included organising a Wacky Hair Day to raise money for OPAL shelters and making sure that toilets had better smelling soap and enough mirrors.
Congratulations to the following children who have been elected to represent their peers this year. They will meet on a weekly basis to organise events and discuss school matters with staff.

Y6 residential trip to Call of the Wild
Next week, we are looking forward to taking 41 year 6 children, who have chosen to go, on their residential to Call of the Wild in Wales. An action packed week of outdoor and adventurous activities awaits them, ranging from caving to canoeing to gorge walking and rock climbing. A fantastic experience for all. Those children who are not going also have a week of 'off timetable' activities plannned. Mr Jones (Y5), Miss Vine (Y6), Mr Oliver (Y3) and Mrs Lander (Y6) will be accompanying the trip. We are very grateful to them for giving up their home and family time to enable the trip to go ahead.
Mr Jones' Y5 class will be taught by Mrs Hunting and Mrs Mackie (Y6) and Mr Oliver's Y3 class by Mr Jones (Y6). The children not going to Call of the Wild will be taught by Mr Underwood (Y6).
WhatsApp - important reminders
Please make the time to read the following. We are aware that some families are allowing their children to use WhatsApp and we would like to help make this as safe and productive as possible.
Good luck and happy storytelling!
Last week, Year 4 participated in a samba drumming workshop to help with our current learning on Rio de Janeiro. They had the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, dance to the rhythm, sing in Portuguese and get loud!
At the end of the day, both year 4 classes put on a performance for parents which was a huge success. There are definitely budding musicians in year 4! Well done!
On Thursday, Year Two children made Tudor houses. Families were invited to join in and everyone worked hard to create some amazing houses in the style of those that would have been in London during The Great Fire of London. 2W started the afternoon singing a song to introduce the parents to London in 1666 and 2SJ ended the afternoon by making our own version of Pudding Lane and singing London's Burning. Thank you to all the family members who came and joined in the fun!
We have launched our autumn term clubs for children in years 1 to 6 this week. It has been brilliant to see your children embracing the wide range of opportunities that we provide free of charge.
Please be aware that most clubs have waiting lists. We would appreciate you letting us know if your child is no longer able to attend a club as we can then offer the opportunity to another family.
Thank you to everyone who is involved in making our extra-curricular offer so successful. The time and effort that goes into facilitating and organising clubs is very much appreciated.
Don't forget to check Edulink One, 'CLUBS' for clubs dates and information. Dates that clubs are not running are listed on the relevant clubs.

Cheltenham to Bishop's Cleeve Cycleway - Have your say!
The route forms part of the proposed walking and cycling improvements on the A435 between Cheltenham and Bishops Cleeve and the 26-mile cycle spine linking Stroud to Bishops Cleeve, via Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The A435 walking and cycling route, when finished, will link Bishops Cleeve directly to Cheltenham Railway Station.
The scheme will help Gloucestershire County Council’s aims of becoming carbon net zero by 2045, as well as improving access to homes, employment, education and transport hubs. It will see significant improvements in the cycling and walking network being delivered across the county, to support a greener Gloucestershire.
