It was absolutely delightful to welcome year 1, 2, 3 and 4 families into school this week to enjoy lunch with their children. We know that the children enjoyed spending this special time with their families, and families enjoyed experiencing this part of the school day. Thank you to Mrs Byrne and our fabulous catering team for making this possible.
Given the success of the initiative, we will schedule further events and make sure we give you plenty of notice.
On Thursday a number of representatives from other schools visited us to learn more about our OPAL lunchtimes. Given that we have attained an OPAL Platinum Award, they were keen to find out more about how we have achieved and maintain our high standards and success. Our visitors were impressed to see the way our children play together and embrace the wide range of opportunities on offer. We are very proud.
Thanks must go to our OPAL team for making our lunchtimes so happy and productive. The way in which the team works together and goes above and beyond to achieve this success is very much appreciated.
OPAL Morning - Saturday 10am-12noon
We are looking forward to opening our grounds to families tomorrow morning, we hope that you can pop in and join us. Please enter the school grounds via the gates leading to our main school field.
We hope that this community event will enable you to catch up with friends whilst immersing yourself in the OPAL experience. Thank you to the PTFA who will be serving tea and coffee on what is scheduled to be a warm, sunny morning.
Our year 6 children have had a fabulous residential trip to Call of the Wild this week. Here is an insight into the experiences and challenges that they have embraced together.
Thank you to Mr N Jones, Miss Vine, Mr Oliver and Mrs Lander for accompanying the trip and taking such good care of the children. We are in no doubt that the children will treasure their memories of this extraordinary trip for years to come.
Is my child too ill for school?
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school, nursery or playgroup when they're unwell.
There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the school or nursery on the first day. Let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.
If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.
Follow this advice for:
Coughs and colds
It's fine to send your child to school with a minor cough or common cold. But if they have a fever, keep them off school until the fever goes.
Encourage your child to throw away any used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
High temperature
If your child has a high temperature, keep them off school until it goes away.
COVID-19
If your child has mild symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, and feels well enough, they can go to school.
Your child should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if they have symptoms of COVID-19 and they either:
- have a high temperature
- do not feel well enough to go to school or do their normal activities
What to do if your child has tested positive
Your child is no longer required to do a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test if they have symptoms. But if your child has tested positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days after the day they took the test.

It was brilliant to see so many parents and carers in school last week learning more about how we teach children to read. Thank you to Mrs Fisher and Mr Price for running the event.
