It was lovely to see our families enjoying OPAL and our fabulous grounds yesterday afternoon. Huge thanks to the OPAL team and PTFA for making this happen.
The Little Green Coffee Van was a treat too, thank you to them for supporting us.
Thank you for your harvest contributions. Your generous donations will make a big difference to families in need in our local community.
Dunalley Pantry will be open on Friday 27th October. Families are welcome to come along to the school office between 9am and 10.30am - Sam Ashton will be in school to help you. We don't want anyone to be hungry or lacking essential items during half term.
Please remember that you can always contact our Family Support Team via email [email protected] or by telephone on 01242 512391.
We are pleased to be able to help our families, particularly during the cost of living crisis.
We are so impressed and proud of the Reception children who have embraced their start at Dunalley and their learning for their first term. We have finished the term with our traditional tales by creating our own stories and showing off our writing skills that we have started to develop. The children have also loved starting their cycling lessons this term, which will continue into next term, and embracing all things Autumn with their pumpkin art work, science questioning and Autumn hunts.
They also joined their first whole school assembly and performed a wonderful Autumn song to the whole school!
Petition for a Pedestrian Crossing

FUNDRAISING TARGET
We aim to raise £2,000 to support the Dunalley Literature Festival in May 2024. Last year's event saw Authors Andy Seed, Hannah Shaw, Kate Townsend and John Rigby hold assemblies and workshops with all the children who were then inspired to read and write. Your ongoing support of our events will help us to reach the target and we would appreciate any time you can spare to help at events or help to arrange them - email [email protected] We have more events on the way, watch this space!
EASY FUNDRAISING
Just a reminder that we will receive a £2 bonus for every sign up until the end of October! Please download the easy fundraising app and log in - you can then continue to support us every time you shop online through the app.
Students from Japan at Dunalley
Over the last couple of weeks we have had the pleasure of welcoming two sets of Japanese students into school. Year two were treated to a range of activities - origami, Japanese writing, dancing and finding out about Japan with students from Chigakukan Secondary School and year 4 welcomed Konodai Girls' Senior High School. Their students prepared a range of activities including origami, aizome (dyeing small cloth) and calligraphy (brush writing with ink). The children all thoroughly enjoyed their activities as did the students who came to visit.
Thank you so much to Laura and Yeingg for coming along to school on Tuesday for family meetings.
Many families were able to chat to them and learn more about the Young Minds Matter initiative.
Threadworms (pinworms) are tiny worms in your poo. They're common in children and spread easily. You can treat them without seeing a GP - just pop along to the chemist.
Check if it's threadworms
You can spot worms in your poo. They look like pieces of white thread.
You might also see them around your child's bottom (anus). The worms usually come out at night while your child is sleeping.
Have a fabulous half term break, stay safe and well.
We look forward to seeing everyone back to school on Monday 6th November.

Dear Parent or Carer,
Screening vision and measuring the healthy growth of children
Each year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). Height and weight measurements are used to better understand the healthy growth of your child. We collect this information because it is in the interest of public health to understand how many children are living with a healthy weight or are above or below a healthy weight.
Your Head Teacher has agreed that this will happen in your child’s school, you can contact your school to find out when we will be visiting. If a high volume of children are absent on the date of our visit, we may need to make another unplanned visit so please complete the opt out form if you do not wish for your child to be included in any NCMP measurements.
Please note, children will not be made to take part on the day if they do not want to.
