This week the children participated in a range of exciting activities to help foster a love and curiosity for maths. The week started with a whole school ‘escape room’ where the children had to save Pippin, who was ‘locked in Mrs. Godfrey’s office’. Each class solved a range of problems, which gave them a 6-digit code to unlock Pippin (who is now safe and well). As well as teachers providing a range of engaging reasoning and problem-solving tasks throughout the week, the children were also treated to a special maths visitor.
Michael Ede kindly gave up his time to work with all classes in Years 1-6 and provided each of them with many stimulating puzzles. The children loved it. In addition, KS2 classes took part in a TTRS battles and certificates were awarded during assembly.
There is still time for children to send in their entries for the ‘I See Maths Photo Competition’. Just take a picture of maths in everyday life and think of a thought-provoking question to go with it. Add your child’s name and class, and send your entries to [email protected] by Thursday 23rd November. Alternatively, give a printed picture to Mr. L. Jones. There are prizes up for grabs!
Here is an example below:
Reminder - Wacky Day - Monday 20th November
This event has been organised by the School Councillors. Given the success of their Wacky Hair day last year, they have decided to take it one step further! Children are invited to come into school looking 'wacky' (hair and clothes) on Monday 20th November for a suggested donation of £1.
The School Council has decided that 80% of the money raised will go to Cheltenham Animal Shelter, whilst 20% will stay with school. The groups plans to discuss how it will be spent when they know how much they have raised.
Friday's evacuation highlighted that most of the contact data we hold for families is correct, however there are a few discrepancies and missing email addresses.
Please log onto Edulink One and check that your address, email and mobile number is correct.
Then click on your child's record and check they have the correct address.
All children MUST have at least 2 people listed as a contact.
Everyone can add contacts directly to a child's record via Edulink One, 'Update Information'. Please ensure you list everyone that is able to collect your child.
If you are unable to log onto Edulink One because you have not received log in details, please email [email protected] with your email address, name and child's name.
Community Lunch and Food Pantry
You are warmly invited to Community Hot Lunches at School House Café on Mondays, 12.30pm-1.30pm. Come along, bring your friends, come with children (as we have a play room). Everyone is welcome! A chef from a local charity will be cooking up delicious meals each week, using ingredients grown at a local community garden. Pay whatever you can afford, no matter how small an amount, and come and enjoy lunch together. Money is no barrier so please come along, even if you feel you cannot pay. We’d love to see you.
My name is Jude and I am the new School House Café Community Manager and Food Pantry Lead. I live in St Paul’s and have children at Dunalley in Years 1 and 5 and my eldest has just started at Cleeve. As part of my role, I’m also looking to open up the café for extended hours, perhaps once a week to begin with, for somewhere warm to go after school pick up. I’d love to hear if this is something you’d like and to explore what we could offer you while here.
I will also be running the Food Pantry based out of The Rock on Tewkesbury Road. This is open all year round on Fridays from 9am-12pm and term-time only, Mondays 3.30pm-5pm. The Pantry offers families supermarket items at a reduced cost. Please come and access what’s available if you need to.
So any questions, feedback or ideas about any of above, please do drop me a line or find me at the school gates! Mobile 07476 224308 Email [email protected] Thank you!
