PTFA Update

We would like to remind our families about our Dunalley Pantry.

This facility aims to help families who are struggling with the cost of living crisis - we have a bank of products that are free to families in need.

Please contact Sam Ashton (our Family Support Worker) if you would like to use the pantry - she will be very happy to help. You can catch her at the beginning of the school day, call her on 01242 512391 (select option 2), or email [email protected].

We would be delighted to receive donations of the following:

Toilet paper
Bars of soap
Washing powder/tablets
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Rice
Pasta
Pasta Sauce
Cereal bars
Coffee
Tinned veg

Girls and Boys Football

We have played both Girls and Boys football over the last few weeks with contrasting results, but lots of fun and exercise was had by all.

The girls have renamed both teams themselves with the following titles winning the group vote: Dunalley 'Dragons' and Dunalley 'Phoenixes'. Both have backstories, so thank you to Emilia for sharing them: 'Dragons' was picked as they are fierce and formidable, so people should be wary of playing against us. 'Phoenixes' was chosen because they are golden, hopefully bringing us success, and are re-born from the ashes, so if we lose, we should keep our heads up and keep on playing.

The Phoenixes played St. John's, here at school, and despite our younger ages in most areas, the girls ran out 4-2 winners: Holly scoring three and Emily one. Many of our goals flowed from goalkeeper, through the defence and midfield, onto the attackers to finish confidently. Our opposition's teacher was very complimentary, so well done everyone. More games to follow.

The boys team also played St. John's last week and faced a very organised and capable team. I think we were a bit shocked at how forceful they were to start with as the boys have been so successful recently. However, we rode the storm and the tackles to dig in and try and keep them at bay. A 4-0 half-time result was not deserved, due to the 100% effort put in. However, after an honest team talk, we agreed the second half would be 0-0 and we would play to OUR strengths, targeting their areas of opportunity. The boys were awesome against some over the top play by some and did exactly what they said they would. Real Dunalley perseverance and spirit shone through and we drew the latter period 1-1, Quinn scoring our goal after more super build up play. Well done everyone again and we move onto the next game, hopefully soon.

Nursery and Pre-school Update

Nursery and Pre-school have had a very busy couple of weeks. Some of our grandparents came along and helped us plant sunflower seeds and a whole range of vegetable seeds for our allotment beds. They stayed for refreshments and the children showed them around their nursery.

We have been enjoyed our focused books of 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carle and 'Here We Are' by Oliver Jeffers. We have exploring the illustrations in 'Here We Are' and thinking about what the author is telling us.

Forest School was a little wet and muddy this week but we had lots of fun. We will be looking out for dandelions and their dandelion puff so we can spread the seeds!

Menu Change - Tuesday 7th May

With Monday being a bank holiday, we wanted to let you know that the menu choices on Tuesday will be as follows:

Red - Cheese & Tomato Pizza
Green - Pasta Primavera
Blue - Jacket Potato
Dessert - Chocolate and Orange Cookie

Lates price increase from September 2024

From September 2024 we need to increase our Lates fees from £8.00 to £10.00 per day.

We have kept our rate lower than other schools for the last few years and our price remains competitive but sadly as school costs rise, so must our charge.

Thank you all for your continued support - we wanted to give those of you who use this facility as much notice as possible.

Please can you keep your ParentPay accounts in credit for school lunches and Earlies & Lates.

School budgets are stretched and we are unable to subsidise costs incurred by families.

PTFA Update

READY STEADY READ CHALLENGE 20/05/24

Dunalley will be taking part in a sponsored reading challenge during our literature reading festival, from Monday 20th May to Thursday 23rd May. The longer the children spend reading, the more money they can raise. Sponsor forms will be sent home next week and those who return the completed sponsor forms along with the money raised will be entered into a prize draw for book vouchers. Ready, Steady, Read!

SILLY SPOONS 24/05/24

Over the May half term break, we will be running a free silly spoons competition where the children can all decorate a spoon - the crazier the better! We plan to display them at the front of the school office. More information will follow soon.
