It's well established that reading for pleasure leads to significantly better outcomes for children – boosting academic performance, enhancing wellbeing and fostering vital life skills like empathy.

The whole school has been revelling in the buzz of health week this week and it has been a joy to behold.
From singing and dancing to favourite songs, the success of sports days, mindfulness and kindness buckets it really has been special.
We have been championing healthy bodies and healthy minds and finished with an assembly where we shared the words of each class in their positive messages to themselves, talked about fruits and vegetables never tried before (passion fruit, radishes and kumquats were all mentioned) and sang a whole school “Eye of the Tiger” (which Year 6 seemed to know very well – maybe a hint for our up and coming leavers' assembly…)
In our gallery below we have class positivity clouds and with thanks to Dolce Ltd for organising and delivering smoothie tasting, ome photos of this too.

Children from year 2, 3 and 4 attended a tennis festival at the East Gloucester Tennis club last week.
Lots of the children were representing the school for the first time and they all loved playing tennis against children from other schools across Cheltenham.

Year 3 invited families into school last week to help complete their DT project making fabric pennants to represent Cheltenham.
Thank you to everyone who attended it was a great morning!

Following on from Year 4’s French afternoon, Year 5 were lucky enough to enjoy an afternoon of Spanish with Pittville School's, Year 9 Language Leaders.
They came armed with games and a fiesta feeling – giving the children an introduction to Spanish.
This was a wonderful way to explore another foreign language and the children all had great fun.
A big thank you to Pittville for their efforts and support for our foreign language efforts at Dunalley.
