Meet Miss Emily Alway - our new Child and Family Support Worker
Hello, my name is Emily, and I am delighted to have joined Dunalley Primary School.
I have worked with children and families for nearly 10 years, across a wide range of roles and settings. This has given me valuable experience supporting children of different ages and backgrounds, as well as working closely with parents to ensure every child feels safe, happy, and able to thrive.
I would describe myself as a friendly and approachable person, and I hope parents and carers feel comfortable coming to me if they ever need a chat, advice, or just a listening ear. Building positive relationships with families is something I value highly, and I am really looking forward to being part of the Dunalley community.
I am excited to get to know the children and families here and to contribute to the supportive and nurturing environment that makes Dunalley such a special school.
If you’d like to meet with Emily, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can call 01242 512391 for a chat, email [email protected] or drop by to see if she is available at the beginning or end of the school day. Emily is usually at the main school entrance or the field entrance during these times.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Meet the Teacher events this week!
Our teachers were absolutely thrilled to see so many families, and the children were bursting with pride as they showed you their classrooms, books, and achievements.
These informal catch-ups were a lovely chance to hear more about what the children are learning in school and how you can support their learning at home.
If you couldn’t make it this time, please don’t worry. We’ll be holding individual family meetings with teachers before half term and will share curriculum information with you through the school website as soon as possible.
We would like to remind our families about the Dunalley Pantry, which supports families who may be experiencing financial challenges. The pantry offers a variety of products, all free of charge, to help families in need.
For your convenience, the pantry has now been moved to the main entrance area. You are very welcome to pop in and collect whatever you need. There are some bags available on the side of the pantry unit for your use.
If you would like to donate items to the pantry, you are very welcome to add them directly to the shelves or hand them in at the school office.
Thank you for helping us to support our community!
Coats, waterproofs and footwear!
Wet weather reminder
As we have experienced a significant amount of rain this week, we kindly ask that all children come to school with suitable clothing and footwear for wet weather conditions. This will help ensure they are comfortable and able to enjoy their school day.
Thank you for your continued support.
We’d love every child to have a pair of wellies in school each day – ready for splashing, jumping and exploring outdoors!
To help make this possible (and keep costs down), we’re re-launching our Welly Swap.
How it works:
-
Visit the Welly Display, located in the bicycle storage outside our main entrance.
-
Take a pair of wellies that fit your child.
-
If you can, leave a pair your child has grown out of for someone else to use.
It’s that simple – take a pair, leave a pair!
This swap not only saves money but also helps the environment by reducing waste. Our new Welly Display is already full of boots ready to be taken and worn – so come and find a pair today!
Together, we can make sure every child has the chance to enjoy the outdoors, whatever the weather.
We know that the first couple of weeks back at school are always a big adjustment for everyone—both at home and here at school!
As we settle into the new term, we kindly ask that all Earlies and Lates accounts are brought into credit and any outstanding balances cleared by this weekend.
Please also remember that Lates finishes at 5:30pm. The gates open at 5:20pm for you to collect your children. Our staff work tirelessly caring for the children throughout the day, and we want to ensure they are able to finish work on time. A late collection fee will be applied if children are collected after 5:30pm, and persistent late collection may result in cancellation of bookings.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and cooperation.
