Head Teacher Letter - 27.02.2022
Dear Families,
I hope that you have enjoyed half term. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to school tomorrow.
You will be aware that the government has updated national COVID-19 guidance during the holiday. Public health advice for People with COVID-19 and their contacts changed from 24th February meaning that contacts are no longer required to self-isolate or advised to take daily tests, and contact tracing has ended. Public health advice is that people with COVID-19 continue to stay at home and avoid contact with other people to stop the spread of infection. They suggest that people follow the procedures shown below in order to safely return to their normal routine as soon as possible.
Children with COVID-19 should not attend nursery/school while they are infectious. They should take a LFD test from 5 days after their symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms) followed by another one the next day. If both these tests results are negative, they should return to nursery/school, as long as they feel well enough to do so and do not have a temperature.
People who experience COVID-19 symptoms should still order a PCR test and stay at home and avoid contact with other people whilst waiting for the test result.
Please email [email protected] if your child is not able to return to school tomorrow as they tested positive for COVID-19 during half term.
Guidance materials for schools and early years providers have changed in response to the Government’s ‘Living with COVID-19’ plans. I have consequently updated our COVID-19 risk assessment and Outbreak Management Plan. You can access them via these links, or find them on our school website (under the Statutory Information tab).
Whilst maintaining a number of protective measures (e.g. enhanced cleaning, adequate ventilation and regular handwashing), you will see that we will be gradually phasing out the ‘bubbles’ that we maintained whilst infection rates in our community were high during the winter months. This will mean that your children will be able to mix with more children during playtimes, lunchtimes, before and after school clubs and in Earlies and Lates.
We are also very much looking forward to welcoming you back into school before Easter so that you can see your children enjoying their learning in their classrooms, look at their books, and explore our fabulous indoor and outdoor environments. We will share the dates and times of these opportunities later this week, please look out for them.
Yours sincerely,
Alison Godfrey
