What a wonderful week! It has been full of sunshine and smiley faces.
Our children continue to embrace their learning and enjoy a wide range of opportunities and experiences. Year 5 have enhanced their historical knowledge and understanding at the Ashmoleon museum in Oxford, and year 1 have benefited from a visit from the RNLI prior to their geography trip to the seaside next week. Our before and after school clubs continue to be popular and effective in developing a wide range of skills and interests. Our before school dancers, and their infectious rhythm and enthusiasm, have given everyone an uplifting start to the day, and our potters have oozed calm and focus in their after-school club.
Summer Fete - July 15th 3pm - 5pm
We are busy getting things planned for our first Summer Fete in a few years. Alongside our own stalls (with your donations) if you know of anyone who would like to rent a table from us to sell their homemade crafts please ask them to contact [email protected].
We are delighted to announce that Cody Crew will be dancing at the fete at 4.15pm, thank you to them for offering the entertainment.
We are also fortunate to have the Yellow Book Company coming along with their fabulous collection of books for sale. They were here recently at our Book Fair and the feedback from families was that they wanted them to come back; value for money and quality books.
Our Year 6 children are currently writing persuasive letters to supermarkets asking for donations of items for our BBQ. The BBQ will be run by our catering company, AiP, with all proceeds coming to school.
We will also have a table offering a book swap, bring any books you have finished with and we will set up a table where you can grab a new one.
Donations please
We are now ready to start taking donations for our fete.
- Outdoor Plants
- Candles
- Bottles for our Bottle Tombola
- Homemade Cakes can be donated on the day please. These will be sold, and proceeds will go to school.
All donations should be taken to the school office, thank you in advance.
Reminder:
Lates will not be running on the 15th July due to the summer Fete.
It has been fabulous weather this week and the children have had wonderful OPAL lunchtimes.
Den making (useful as shade), gymnastics, dancing, football, art and playing shops to name just a few of the activities chosen by the children.
Look at the photographs below to get an idea of how our lunchtimes run at Dunalley, ask your children too.
I'm sure they will tell you about the fun assembly this morning when we introduced a new trike, which Mrs Byrne rode into the hall. Mr Adams also took the trike for a little spin. The trike is just one of four we have bought for the children thanks to the donations received by families at the jubilee picnic. We have also bought additional space hoppers, dance ribbons, bubbles and a few other things which we feel will enhance the lunchtime even more.
Today Mrs Byrne got the hose out on the school field to cool the children down, they absolutley loved it.
We still need our boat picking up if anyone can help please email [email protected]
Donations still welcome too: picnic blankets, old tents, sheets etc please.

September 2022 Starters - Invitation to school
Welcome ‘Tea Party’ – Friday 24th June at 2pm
This event is for our new families due to start school in September. You can bring the children along too.
It will provide you with an opportunity to meet with our early years team and school leaders, we will also share practical information about starting school and discuss the ways in which we can work together to make the experience as positive as possible for your children. It will be a good opportunity to ask any questions about the transition to school.
AiP, our catering provider will be at hand to offer a taster session of the lunches provided for the children.
Stay and Play sessions
In addition to the welcome tea party, we would like to invite you and your child into school to enjoy ‘stay and play sessions’ with the EYFS teachers.
Dates for these sessions will be July 1st and July 15th from 2pm – 2.45pm on our front field.
We very much look forward to seeing our families at these events.
We are delighted that sports day will return to Dunalley Primary School after the last couple of years.

Year 6 Leaving events - Dates for your diaries
Pizza Evening
On Tuesday 12th July, the children in Year 6 will enjoy a movie and pizza evening as part of our leavers' celebrations. During the school day, the children will be preparing their pizza dough and planning their pizza toppings. Rather than going home at the normal time, the children will be invited to stay in school until 6pm.
This will give them time to enjoy one another's company, a film and our wonderful outside space as well as their own delicious pizzas.
They are welcome to wear home clothes on this day.
Leavers Assembly
Year 6 families are invited to attend a leavers assembly on Wednesday 20th July at 2pm, after which any younger children can be collected.
Y1 enjoyed a visit from the RNLI and learnt about safety at the beach, and the important job these special people do for us.
Year 5 Trip - Ashmolean Museum
Atlas Holiday Camp - Summer Holiday Dates
There are only 5 more weeks left in school until the summer holidays, luckily Atlas Holidays Camps have released their camp dates for the summer.
The Summer Holiday Camp will run here at school from Monday 25th July right through until Friday 2nd September.
The children have so much fun, it's great that they are in an environment that they are familiar with and with their friends.
