Our School Summer Fete - This Afternoon
We are looking forward to welcoming our families into school at 3pm this afternoon.
Please ensure that you bring some cash with you, most items will cost
50p/£1.00/£1.50/£2.00, we will have a card machine on site for the BBQ/Lollies.
We would like to remind you of the collection arrangements.
All children will need to be collected from outside their classrooms. Please enter school via the normal collection gates.
If you are going to the summer fete, children may be collected at 3pm. All other children will need to be collected at their normal going home time also from outside their classrooms.
Year 6 children who normally walk home will be dismissed to walk home at 3.15pm unless an adult comes to collect them to go to the summer fete. If your Year 6 child is allowed to go to the summer fete by themselves, please email [email protected] to confirm this. Please note that staff will not be able to supervise any children.
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Freeman back from maternity leave this week.
Mrs Freeman will be covering PPA from September.
Mrs Ball has been appointed as a Nursery Practitioner, Mrs Ball has worked at school for some time as part of our lunch time team and we congratulate her on her achievements.
Sadly we are saying farewell to some staff next week, as our academic year comes to an end.
The following staff leave us but we send them our very best wishes as they further their careers in other settings, all are staying within the education sector.
Sarah Cheal
Olivia Ashton
Jo McDonald
Debbie Harries
Zara Cornish
Kirsty White
Abbie Moore
Jenny Bilas
Jenny is retiring this year. We wish her our very best and hopes she fully enjoys her retirement.
This year's challenge is called 'Gadgeteers', and was designed by The Reading Agency to shine a spotlight on STEM as well as reading. With resources and activities from the Science Museum Group, the Challenge focuses on inspiring children to see the science and innovation behind everyday objects, showing that reading and science are for everyone. The Challenge will show that imagination can unlock endless possibilities, and the library is where this starts.
Pencil Cases/Stationery for next year
Can you help?
The individual stationery packs that your children have been using this year have been really useful so we will continue to work in this way next term.
Are you able to supply your child(ren) with the following items in September?
- An inexpensive, small, plain, wipeable named pencil case
- 12 coloured pencils
- 2 HB pencils
- 2 rubbers (plain are best)
- 1 named glue stick
- 1 highlighter pen
We will provide everything else. We would like these items to stay in school all of the time.
If you have not yet responded to our survey (link below) please do so ASAP to let us know if you are able to send your child into school in September with these items. We will use the money that we save to buy additional books for class libraries.
Reading Books
With next year in mind, we would really appreciate everyone having a good search at home for reading scheme books and books in general that the children have borrowed from school. Please return these to school next week so we can do a stock take of books that have been lost. Your help with this will be much appreciated as each year we do spend a lot of money replacing lost books. If you have anything else at home that belongs to school please also return those items too.
Due to the expected high temperatures next week we have amended our event on Tuesday 19th July.
In this, our first parents’ event, parents and carers will get to meet our school’s OPAL mentor (Rachel), hear directly from her about the OPAL programme and get the opportunity to ask questions. This meeting will include a presentation to give the background behind OPAL, talk about the importance of play and how the school is being supported through the OPAL programme.
Due to the expected heatwave next week, once the meeting has ended, families will be able to collect their children from their classrooms and take them home early.
We are happy for families to stay a while and look at the site used for OPAL but we will not be offering the stay and play aspect this time, due to the weather forecast.
Revised Timings:
1.50 - 2.00pm Arrival
2.00 - 2.30pm OPAL presentation in hall (OPAL mentor)
2.30 pm - Event ends
Bring a loose part
We still hope to collect new loose parts as part for our OPAL initiative. We will have a donation box outside of reception on Tuesday, as you arrive you can add anything you wish to donate into the box.
We would really like: Dolls, pushchairs, blankets, dressing up clothes, old kitchen utensils and pots and pans.
We are looking forward to our Musical Celebration on Wednesday 20th at 6pm.
The event will take place in the school hall and enable our talented musicians to perform to an audience.
Other children and school staff will have the opportunity to watch the performance in school on Thursday 21st July.

Charitable Donation with a difference
Well done to Mimi (3A) who has raised over £170 for Little Princess Trust for donating 18 inches of her hair.
Such a lovely thing to do, we are very proud of her.
Communication from school to home
Please remember that our preferred methods of communication to our parents/carers are:
- Newsletter
- Tapestry for EYFS (Nursery & pre-school and Reception classes)
- School App
We rarely do letters or use notice boards in school for regular updates. Please be sure to check the newsletter for important information and dates for your diaries.
If you use the school app you will be able to sync important dates to your own calendars.
