A message from our Early Years Team
The Early Years team at Dunalley are delighted to welcome you to our school. This is the beginning of a very exciting journey and it is important that your child feels happy and secure as they begin their school life.
At Dunalley, we recognise the importance of the relationships we have with our families and value the information you share with us about your child. You have been your child’s first teacher since the day they were born and you know them best. By working together, we can help your child to become the best they can be. With this in mind, please know that you are welcome to ask us questions and please be as open as possible with the team, as this will help us to support your child.
Our Reception team currently consists of an Early Years’ Leader, two class teachers and two teaching partners.
Our usual transition programme includes information sessions for parents, story time sessions for children, school readiness support for parents and visits to children in their current nurseries. This year our transition activities are, of course, going to look a little different. However, please be reassured that we will do all we can to enable a smooth start at Dunalley. We are looking forward to meeting you all, in person, as soon as possible.
When we are able to, we will be let you when there will be opportunities for you to come into school, get to know the team and spend time in the classrooms. Until this is possible, we will contact you with information and would encourage you to keep an eye on this website for updates.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon.

School readiness includes:
* Social Skills – able to take turns and cooperate with others
* Communication Skills – able to talk about thoughts, ideas and needs
* Physical skills – able to dress and undress and manipulate pencils and scissors
* Literacy and Maths foundations – writing their name and counting carefully
Is your child ready for school? Are they up to date with their vaccination?
* Before they start school they should have had their 2nd Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) and their vaccination for diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and polio(DTaP/IPV)
* Unsure? Check your child’s vaccination status with your GP Surgery
Thank you once again for choosing Dunalley Primary School as your child’s school.
We look forward to meeting you all as soon as we possibly can, look out for further correspondence from us.
