To celebrate World Book Day March 2nd 2023, we would like to invite all children and adults to dress up as their favourite book character and bring along the associated book. The outfits can be as simple or as ornate as people desire. If you are lacking inspiration, have a quick Google online as there are lots of ideas out there. Many outfits can be simply made with items you may already have in the house.
We will be undertaking lots of reading activities on the day!
Children’s Mental Health Week starts on 6th February, and this year the theme is ‘let’s connect’, looking at the importance that connections with others have on our mental health.
Healthy relationships with family, friends and others are vital for children and young people’s wellbeing, offering a strong protective factor against poor mental health.
Human beings thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing, and our survival. When we have healthy connections, our mental health and our sense of wellbeing is supported. When our need for rewarding social connections is not met, we can sometimes feel isolated and lonely – which can have a negative impact on our mental health.
Let's Connect is about making meaningful connections for all, during Children's Mental Health Week - and beyond.
For Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, we’re encouraging people to connect with others in healthy, rewarding, and meaningful ways. Click on the link below for some fabulous tips.
Thank you to everyone who made and donated the fabulous cakes a couple of Fridays ago, we have now counted the money raised which was a staggering £570.
This money will go towards a school development priority, watch this space for more information.
Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)
We are working hard this term to get our Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) initiative right where we want it to be, to be the very best for our children.
Our Class OPAL BINGO Game is proving to be very popular and there is a good natured competition amongst the classes. So far Y1U are in the lead filling their bingo card. Some classes are yet to get going but it's early days and the competition is still wide open.
- Saucepans
- Washing Up bowls
- Colanders
- Utensils
- Hats
- Handbags
- Wooden Planks
- Small Brushes (Dust Pan and brush)
The idea is that each class aims to complete as much of the card as possible by the Easter holidays, the class with the most items will win the Golden Welly Trophy to display in their classroom.
Whilst it is the role of the school to minimise disruption from the national teaching strikes, we also feel that parents should understand why some teachers made the difficult decision to lose a day's pay and leave their classrooms this week.
Please follow the link below to find out more about why the NEU decided to take industrial action.

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Skerratt has joined our fabulous Nursery & Pre-school team.
Many thanks to those of you who have been in touch to express your interest in joining us as a volunteer, in school, to hear the children read.
We do ensure that we follow all safeguarding guidance and procedures at Dunalley, so there is a process to get volunteers signed up.
If you have availability and are interested in hearing children read in school please email [email protected] for further information or complete of application to volunteer form on our website:
