Exceptional behaviour and attitudes
We continue to celebrate exceptional attitudes to learning, behaviour and achievements at Dunalley. This year we have introduced a Commendation Book as an additional way of acknowledging and capturing the behaviour and conduct of children who have shown themselves to be great role models. The book is on display in school, please pop in and see it if your child receives a special mention.
Dear Headteacher,
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting a number of your students at the cafe in Pittville Park yesterday afternoon. We were sat having coffee with our two basset hounds Baxter and Betsy when two sisters approached us and asked if they could stroke our dogs, which they did. This attracted more children and soon there had gathered a group of about nine! Without exception they were all polite, pleasant and easily entered into meaningful conversation. In particular, we would like to mention the two sisters who initially came over. Such a credit to themselves, their parents and your school. It was such a shame that in this day and age it is not correct to take a photograph of these group of youngsters. It would have made a fantastic photo. All we can say to identify the two sisters is that they had a small dog at home called Marge. Thank you for all your school's hard work, which from our experience is contributing to the development of such wonderful small adults.
As we mentioned last week, we have already scheduled key events for this academic year (family meetings, summer sports events etc.). We'd like to give you as much notice as possible as we know that many of you are juggling work and home commitments.
Lots of dates are now live.
These dates are available via the Edulink App - go to Links, Communications and then School Calendar.
Earlies & Early Birds - IMPORTANT REMINDER
Earlies (paid for childcare) and Early Birds (additional tutoring) start at 8am each day.
It is important that everyone arrives on time so that children and staff can start their school day on time and make the most of the opportunities on offer.
Please be aware there may be a delay in welcoming your child(ren) into school and ensuring that they safely get to their group if they arrive late. This is because additional staff members will need to facilitate this.
Thank you for your understanding.
We are pleased to inform you that we will be holding the PTFA AGM in school on Wednesday 4th October, 2pm. We would like welcome as many people as possible who would like to support the PTFA either officially or unofficially. The meeting will help to support the shaping of the group going forward. We look forward to seeing your there
Thank you to everyone who has booked to have a lunch with their children. The office are confirming bookings with families so please check your messages over the next few days.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate anyone who has not booked or paid.
Reception have really settled in to school life now. They have started to learn and create their own story maps for the 3 Little Pigs. The children were surprised to see a piggy in school while reading the story! He snorted at their door - but some people thought it might have been someone dressed up…(thank you to Jenson from 1F for his great job!). It enthused the children to create characters and inspire their play.
As we start a new school year, we are hoping to add to our OPAL loose parts.
We are always open to receive donations from our families and are particularly interested in the following items:
- Dolls Prams
- Early Learning cars
- Chalks
- Buckets and spades
- Small World figures
- Tennis balls
- Rackets
- Whisks
- Colanders
We have a box for donations outside the main school office. Thank you very much.
Staff Vacancy - Midday Supervisor
We are seeking a new member for our fabulous Midday Supervisory team, to work with infant and junior children at lunchtimes.
If you are a parent at school, this is a great opportunity to work when your child is at school. Many of our staff have started their careers in Education through this route.
The role will mean working as part of the lunchtime team to inspire, motivate and lead by example and make a significant contribution to the continued improvement of lunchtime provision for the children.
The new member of staff will have an important role in working directly with our children alongside other members of the lunchtime team under the general direction of the Senior Midday Supervisor.
Working with children does require stamina and resourcefulness and this post will require physical effort.
The rate of pay is currently £10.79 per hour, however a pay award is pending for support staff.
Hours of work: 8.75 hours 38 weeks per year (Each week day 11.30am – 1.15pm) Term time only
For more details and an application form please go to our dedicated page 'Opportunities to work at Dunalley' here.
Please be considerate when parking around school, our neighbours are struggling with families parking across their driveways.
