- Secondary School OPEN Evenings
As another successful school year ends, I would like to thank everyone for the invaluable contribution that they make to our community.
Your fabulous children continue to embrace their learning with enthusiasm and determination, and we thank you for your ongoing support. It has been wonderful to welcome families into school this year to share in the excitement and opportunities that school life brings.
I would also like to thank everyone who works at Dunalley. Staff continue to work tirelessly to ensure that children succeed, flourish and enjoy the whole school experience. An exceptional team effort has achieved this with everyone playing an important role. Our premises, admin, OPAL, Earlies, Lates, nursery and school teaching teams have worked exceptionally hard – thank you.
The PTFA have also worked tirelessly for our community having raised an incredible £17,643.75 for our school this year. A small group of willing volunteers have instigated and secured this success whilst admirably juggling their own work and family commitments - they have been truly exceptional.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful summer break. Our year 6 children are ready for their move to secondary school. I am in no doubt that their positive and productive attitudes to learning will enable them to embrace new opportunities and succeed. We look forward to welcoming everyone else back in September for more smiles and success!

Today we have said our goodbyes to our year 6 children, many of whom have been with us since the start of their educational journey at nursery and others joining as the years have progressed. Learning and achieving together has always been the aim of the game and we know that they are ready and poised to take that next step. As they disperse to their various schools, we hope they continue to develop and flourish taking with them the knowledge, skills, growth mindset and positive attitudes that have grown and developed through their time at Dunalley. Enjoy the opportunities and relish the challenges at your new schools.
The year 6 production was an absolutely fabulous event with all of the children shining and many sharing their passion for performing.
We would like to thank all of our children for their hard work and perseverance this year. Visitors to our school always comment on our industrious classrooms and focused learners.
In assembly this morning we celebrated children who have consistently demonstrated exceptional attitudes to learning and school life in general. Congratulations to the following children:

We are so proud of our Reception children who have embraced their start at Dunalley. They have grown as learners, made good friends and shown how if you try hard, you can achieve your goals. To finish our discussions of people who help us, and after lots of parent visits to talk about their jobs, the children came to school as their 30 Year old self! We had vets, architects, fishermen, footballers, dancers, teachers (including a very young looking Mr Price) and even a phlebotomist!
They also wrote about their day at work – imagining how it would pan out and showcasing their progress with their writing – good to see a biscuit at the end of the day was on the cards!
Well done Reception and we look forward to seeing you grow through the school.

Thank you to all our families who have helped with donations during the year, it has shown a real community spirit.
Prince of Wales Athletics Competition
On Friday 28th June, children from KS2 competed in annual the Prince of Wales Athletics Competition. We had a brilliant evening taking part in many track and field events.
The children performed well, showed great determination and never gave up! Looking forward to next year already! Well done everyone!
The children have been competing in the Dunalley Olympics all week – as part of our Health Week.
The countries represented were France, GB< USA< Ukraine, Nigeria and India and children have been working across year groups in Long Jump, Relay, Netball and Artistic Gymnastics. Great teamwork and sportsmanship across the school – and super healthy!
We welcomed Year 3 families into school to help their children complete their textiles project.
This term the children have been researching and designing fabric pennants which represent Cheltenham. We created our final pennant with the help of family members.
Thank you to everyone who came into school!
Both KS1 and KS2 children recently had the opportunity to experience climbing and caving in school!
270 Climbing were with us all day and the children loved challenging themselves on the climbing wall and exploring the caving system.
Well done everyone!
Earlier in the term, Mrs Garrett and a small group of year 3 and 4 children were invited by Shift Movement to Dowty Sports and Social Centre to celebrate yoga. The lucky children were treated to a variety of activities including a cosy glow in the dark starlit relaxation, paired yoga, fun yoga games and mindful crafts. It was a super fun day, we made lots of new friends and are looking forward to putting what we learnt into practise and sharing it with our friends and family. If you would like to try out yoga look out for yoga club with Mrs Garrett, starting in September.
