Winter Wonderland
Thank you for the wonderful projects on the first day back, which have given us a great start to our Winter Wonderland learning. This term we will be looking at the polar regions and the animals living in there. We will also be studying the text Blue Penguin by Petr Horacek and writing facts about penguins. This will then lead onto finding out about Wilson Bentley and learning about snowflakes. We will be creating our own snowflake collage pictures in his style.
Jigsaw
The children’s personal, social and emotional development is supported through Jigsaw sessions, which has a character called Jenie Jigsaw. This term we will be exploring ‘Dreams and Goals’ and ‘Healthy Me’. We will be covering topics such as how to persevere with challenges, work towards our goals and make healthy life choices.
PE and spare clothes
PE sessions will take place on either Thursday mornings or Friday mornings for Reception. We will be starting with gymnastics and then moving onto dance. We continue to spend lots of time being active inside and outside, so please ensure your child has waterproof clothing in school and that all items are named. It is also useful to pack a change of clothes. If you have any outgrown and unwanted items of clothing, please send them into school to add to our spare clothes box.
Drinks
We would like to remind families that bottles must only contain water. For those parents who have requested, milk is provided.
Tapestry
We will continue to use Tapestry to communicate about any additional learning tasks.
Reading
We will continue to change books on Mondays and Fridays and book levels are regularly updated following individual assessments with our phonics leader. If your child brings home a book they have already read, this is to allow them to re-visit texts and become more fluent and confident.
Thank you for your support!
