Year 2 Curriculum Letter - Summer 2024

We hope that you all had a lovely family time during the holidays. The children have returned to school keen
to learn as we embark on the summer term.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the recent parent meeting. If you were not able to
come, please see the PDF of the slides with all the information included.

Maths homework will mostly be linked to what we have been learning during the week. Children are also
encouraged to use Time Table Rockstars each week. Please ask if you need another log in.

For spelling homework, we will send home words that we have been learning in school. They will be sent
home as a set of cards with a picture to represent the word. There will not be a spelling test on the words.
Instead, we will be looking to see the children use them in their writing. If you do have time, it would be very
beneficial to practise the words in any way that you like.

The children are bringing home the common exception words that should be learnt by the end of
Year 2. You will be able to see which words your child needs to practise. We will continue to work on these
in class. If you are able to spend time looking at these at home that would be a great help.

Thank you again for all your support, we are so pleased with the children and look forward to another great
half term with you all.

Please remember that we are very keen to support you too, so please don’t hesitate
to contact Mrs Sarna or Mrs Jones in 2SJ or Miss Woollatt in 2W if you have any questions.

We’ve got a very exciting term ahead; hopefully that excitement will leave the classroom and be shared with you at home!

With best wishes,
The Year 2 team
