Please do not hesitate to contact class teachers if you would like further information or advice - we are always happy to help.
We therefore aim to ensure that all children leave our school understanding the importance of behaving responsibility and being able to make good choices for themselves.
Children who attend school regularly
Children who miss school regularly
Arriving at school on time is also vital. Arriving late to school disrupts the child, their peers and teacher. Punctuality is also essential at the end of the school day and the late collection of children is taken seriously.
In line with updated government guidance materials and legislation, we have updated our Attendance and Punctuality policy:
Please make the time to familiarise yourself with the policy as we are eager to provide support for families who are finding it difficult to get their children to school on time every day.
We are keen to avoid situations where the local authority could choose to take legal action to secure regular, punctual attendance for your children.
Please be aware that regular attendance at Dunalley is achieved when there have been no unauthorised absences from school within the last 12 months.

We’re pleased to let you know that we will be starting to run clubs on Monday 30th September. We are incredibly fortunate to have so many staff that are able to share their skills and expertise. We are extremely grateful to them for doing so on a voluntary basis and giving their time freely.
We will continue to allocate club places in a range of ways. Some of them will be run on an invitation only basis and will therefore not be listed on our general club letter. This may be because we need to work with a particular group of children in the run up to a competitive event or because we would like to help individuals acquire particular skills, e.g. through a language club which supports bilingual children.
The majority of our clubs will continue to be inclusive, and we will endeavour to ensure that as many children as possible benefit from the range of opportunities on offer. At times it may be appropriate to assign some of the spaces to children who are eligible for the pupil premium. For those who may not know, the pupil premium is additional funding allocated to schools to improve the educational outcomes for pupils that might be considered to be economically disadvantaged. Prioritising opportunities for these pupils is standard practice in all schools.
Please follow the link below to request club places. The deadline for responses is 12 noon Monday 23rd September.
Spaces will be allocated via Edulink One, in 'CLUBS' after this deadline and before the start date. Please be assured that a great deal of time and effort goes into the allocation of places and will continue to do our very best to ensure that every child who has requested clubs gets at least one of their choices. No late applications can be accepted.

Thank you for everyone who has responded to the survey below and expressed an interest in attending an informal community event which explores how we can help our children to flourish and succeed.
We are currently finalising dates and times and will share them with you early next week. It is not too late to fill in the survey - please do so over the weekend if you'd like to share your preferences.

As you know, the starting point for discussion will be Jonathan Haidt's book - The Anxious Generation - How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness.
It has been brilliant to hear that so many of you are accessing the book. Listening to the audiobook is also working for some families.
Thanks to an incredibly generous donation from one family this week, we now have 8 copies of the book circulating amongst our year 3 to 6 families (1 book per class). Please pass them on, or return them to school, when you have finished reading them.
We are delighted to welcome new members of staff to our Dunalley community.
We are pleased to let you know that Kate Young has joined our lunchtime team and Emma Forster and Anna Grainger have joined our Reception and Key Stage 2 teaching teams.
Year 4 - Samba Drumming Workshop
The children were able to learn different rhythms on various drumming instruments, all linked to our Geography topic of Brazil.
The day resulted in a fun and fantastic performance to parents and carers. Well done year 4!
OPAL Stay & Play - Saturday 5th October
We would like to invite all of our families to join us for an OPAL Stay & Play on Saturday 5th October from 10am - 12pm.
We hope that you can join us for some wholesome family fun in our fabulous grounds.
If your child comes to school with a bike and attends Lates after school, please make sure that they use the bike storage area outside our main reception.
Bikes left in the storage area within the nursery field are not accessible at the end of Lates as the gate will be locked.
Nursery & Pre-school News & Updates
Nursery & Pre-school OPEN MORNING
We are open on Saturday 5th October between 9.30am and 11am, for prospective parents to pop along to see the setting and meet Sue Carpenter, our Nursery Manager.
Dunalley Diddies & Dunalley Dinkies
"Our Dunalley Diddies group started last week, for parents/carers with babies aged 0-1yr old.
We would like to remind our families that we run a Dunalley Pantry at school.
Our Pantry has been set up to help families who are struggling with the cost of living - we have a bank of products that are free to families in need.
Please contact Sam Ashton (our Family Support Worker) if you would like to use the pantry - she will be very happy to help. You can catch her at the beginning of the school day, call her on 01242 512391 (select option 2), or email [email protected].
